The fourth trimester is a time of vulnerability, family interdependence, healing and transformation. Recovery and family formation require rest and deep nesting and are best experienced at home instead of busy clinics. Babies and their parents should be cared for as the unit they are.  I offer complete in-home integrative medical care for birthing parents and babies for the first 2 months after birth for local families.

I visit your home on the third or fourth day after birth, and at about 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month and 6 weeks. Each visit involves a physical and emotional assessment of both birth parent and child. During this period I will be the baby’s pediatric medical provider, ordering necessary labs, newborn screening, and carefully monitoring feeding, weight gain and wellness.

During these weeks I will also be caring for the birth parent, supporting pelvic recovery, lactation and breast/chest health, and monitoring emotional wellness. I can order labs, prescribe antibiotics and other needed medications, and provide limited wound care. During this time you should keep any scheduled visits with your obstetric provider. They may support you receiving in-home postpartum care in lieu of some visits with them in order to aid your recovery.

I provide basic breast/chestfeeding medicine (such as prescriptions and tongue tie diagnoses and limited frenotomies for clear anterior tongue ties) but I do not provide full lactation consultations. I am skilled at identifying common infant ailments and mobility limitations and supporting infant recovery through skin to skin care, engaging infant reflexes, tummy time work, and craniosacral therapy.

When your child is 2 months old, they will establish care with a pediatrician or family medicine provider for their well child visit. I am not able to provide vaccines due to the complexities of storage and administration rules.

I am an out-of-network provider but will provide a Superbill for both parent and baby that can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement.
